Registration Information

Below is information on how to register for Interscholastic Sports at Dundalk High School. All registration steps must be completed before your student may participate in athletics. If you have any questions, contact Athletic Director, Tim Scherer, at tscherer2@bcps.org or at 443-809-7288.

Sports Offerings at Dundalk HS

• 2024-2025 Tryout Start Dates
  • Fall Sports – Wednesday, August 14^th
  • Winter Sports – Friday, November 15^th
  • Spring Sports – Saturday, March 1^st

• Registration occurs online on the BCPS FOCUS website:

  • Please see attached documents for step by step instructions for creating a Focus Parent Portal account and for the new Athletics Registration Form that will be done within FOCUS.

  • Registration can only be done using a parent account
    • Parent account must be linked to the student
    • To ensure that the accounts are linked, parent must use the email address provided to BCPS in focus to create their account
  • ***Please note that you now must upload a copy of your physical and proof of insurance(picture of insurance card) into the registration system for review by the Athletic Director before your child’s registration may be approved***

• All athletes must be academically eligible to participate: Academic eligibility requirements state that students must:
  2. Have a minimum GPA of 2.0 in the quarter prior to the start of the season.
  3. Have no more than one E/I/U/M in the quarter prior to the start of the season.
     1. Fall: Determined by 4^th quarter of previous school year (all incoming 9^th graders are eligible)
     2. Winter: Determined by 1^st quarter (will lose eligibility if grades drop at end of 2^nd quarter)
     3. Spring: Determined by 2^nd Quarter (will lose eligibility if grades drop at end of 3^rd quarter)

• All students must have a valid sports physical on file with the school: Please be advised that a sports physical is NOT always the same as a normal physical and must specifically clear a student to play sports. Completed physical forms must be uploaded into the FOCUS registration portal before an athlete will be cleared to participate. Physicals are valid for 14 months. • All student-athletes must have health and/or accident insurance to play sports. Your student’s health insurance should be sufficient. Your insurance information must be entered into the FOCUS registration portal.
  • If your child does not have health insurance, you must purchase insurance. BCPS does not provide insurance for students.  If you do not have insurance, it can be purchased online from Bob McCloskey insurance company.
